Irina:
From
my childhood I’ve loved all kind of animals and used to have plenty of pets
at our house. I myself had fish, birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles,
rabbits, dogs, etc. It's not surprising, that I have become a biologist!
There were always cats in my house. Very beautiful cats, but just lovely
home pets with no pedigree.
For my fathers birthday I was trying to find a very special and unique gift.
By chance I have found a book in my family's library, it was about the
different breeds of cats. In that book I saw an attractive cat with a very
unusual appearance - Scottish Fold. It's rounded head, folded ears, huge
eyes, plush coat amazed me from my first look! I've asked for help from the
President of Latvian Felinology Association and famous international judge
Vija Klucniece. She has found me the best kitten of this breed. And that was
our Queen Abava Adzuni, but at home just Betty. So, my father’s birthday
(12 of September 2001) was also birthday
of my Cattery "no Demetra"!
Time went by and my cattery grew, accepting more and more new wonderful cat
family representatives. Completely new for the Baltic area, the colors got
my attention – it is sophisticated pearl with impressive emerald eyes,
silver chinchilla; it is gentle pink cloud with amber eyes – red and cream
cameo; these are elegant bi-tri color cats; these are English-beloved
classic tabby cats. My passion is golden colors. Breeders began to work with
golden colors recently and it is rarity not only for the Baltic, but all
over the world!
Golden colors are different from others because of soft orange tone of
undercoat and, definitely, green eye color. This color is very difficult in
breeding and by now it is still not understandable the process of
inheritance of “golden” gene, but that makes my work, as biologist, more
interesting.
Every new cat is carefully hand chosen from numerous catteries in Europe.
Every one of our pets is from famous breeders from Germany, Israel,
Luxembourg, Belgium, and Holland. Every exemplar is the product of many
years western catteries work! I personally will do all my best and use all
my knowledge and skills in order to strengthen their achievements and move
forward, for the future progress of the British shorthair in the Baltic!
All of our cats are living with us in our Home. We don't use cages, so the
cats can freely play with each other and communicate with us.

to visit my Cattery's page again, because information on it will be updated
frequently!
